10:15 on a Saturday Night

10.15
Saturday night
And the tap drips
Under the strip light
And I’m sitting
In the kitchen sink
And the tap drips
Drip drip drip drip drip drip drip drip

Waiting
For the telephone to ring
And I’m wondering
Where she’s been
And I’m crying
For yesterday
And the tap drips
Drip drip drip drip drip drip drip drip

It’s always the same

10:15 on a Saturday Night by the Cure: Their debut album has to be like a top ten of all time - up there with Jimi Hendrix’s debut. This song leads off the album Three Imaginary Boys. It’s easily my favorite record of theirs*** (I’m not much for the goth stuff that followed). I love their approach to that angular punk/pop. Also check out Fire in Cairo for another great song in this style.

***Three Imaginary Boys was originally a UK release. Some of the songs from that album were repackaged and new songs were added for the worldwide release of “Boy’s Don’t Cry” - their first widely released album.
