…okay first off Mark E Smith(MES) is absolutely fucking nuts. He’s the cantankerous lead singer of the band the Fall.  In fact, Mark IS the Fall seeing as how he has fired probably 40 musicians in the life of the band as he is the only continuous band member.  The Fall are known for sloppy live performances and the ever outrageous antics of MES.  He’s Anton Newcombe of the Brian Jonestown Massacre only three decades earlier and without cameras around.  The thing about the Fall is they are what they are and are unapologetic about it and at the beginning, they were one of only a small number of bands like them.  I like their earlier stuff as it seems a little more focused and less self aware.  Later Fall sounds more like a vehicle for MES’s rants while the earlier stuff seems to do a better job of striking a balance between the music and the lyrics.   I’ll say that with one caveat though - I haven’t heard near enough of their records - I only have maybe three of em.

Totally Wired by the Fall - this is just a brilliant song about speed.  I was thinking of this after listening to that last post of the Big Boys doing Funk Off as the guitar/drums are kind of similar although the Fall is a little more clean and angular than dirty & distorted like the Big Boys.
